Back-to-School Teen Explosion Conference
Call for Conversation Coaches
On Saturday, August 3, 2019, 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m., at Cliffdale Recreation Center the Back to School Teen Explosion will provide a day of interactive learning workshops designed to encourage student success, facilitate thought-provoking discussion, explore issues around social justice. This day will provide students with meaningful perspective to positively shape their personal and academic goals for years to come.
Are you a caring adult in the community with experience of educating students? We invite you to apply to become a "Conversation Coach" by guiding student conversations using the following principles:

We are seeking educators who want to be a part of an organic conversation, grounded in the voice of our local teens. The conference targets rising 8th-12th-grade middle and high school students.
The event will include a series of conversations that are relevant to the intersection of Education & Social Justice. As a coach, we ask that you use your experience working with young people to help guide groups of 7-8 teenagers in their discussion, ensuring the students engage with the topics at hand in a professional and thoughtful manner.
There is no compensation associated with serving as a conversation coach. Back-to-School, Inc. is a nonprofit organization and provides this conference to support the needs of teenagers in our local community. All involved in the conference are volunteers who are compensated by "Making a Difference" in our community.

Participate in training and preparation for the role as a conversation coach:

Wednesday, July 10th from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m. at 725 West Rowan St, Fayetteville, NC 28301

Thursday, July 11th from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at Fayetteville State University, Helen T. Chick 134

Saturday, July 13th from 10:00-12:00 a.m. at 725 West Rowan St, Fayetteville, NC 28301

Attend the event on August 3, 2019 (9:00am-2:00pm)

Participate in debrief, 2:00pm-3:00pm, immediately following the event.
Selection Process:
Note that there are limited spaces available. A committee will review applications and notify you by May 30th (round 1) and June 15th (round 2) regarding final selection.
