A Community Investing in Teen Success: Annual Back-to-School Teen Explosion Conference© Supporting

Back-to-School, Inc. is sponsoring the Back-to-School Teen Explosion Conference© on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at Cliffdale Recreation Center from 10:00AM-2:00PM. The purpose of the Conference is to provide an annual end of summer event that encourages teenagers to plan for a successful school year and apply themselves at the highest level upon going back to school.

The Back-to-School Teen Explosion Conference© is the PREMIER end of summer event for local teenagers. Back-to-School, Inc. understands that teens lose ground academically over the summer because they forget some of the skills and content learned the previous year, if they're not practicing those skills over the summer. According to Dr. Teresa Thompson-Pinckney, “for a small investment by parents and community citizens, teens can participate in a day filled with educational and fun activities designed to boost non-cognitive development in preparation for returning back to school. One of our new features this year includes the Teen Café, where teens will have an opportunity to discuss issues that are important to our youth in the Sandhills Community. As a result of these conversations, Back-to-School, Inc. will work with teens to ensure their voices are heard.” Teens in attendance will also participate in workshop sessions on school success, college preparation, self-awareness and workforce development in addition to a Career & Community Expo.

This years sponsors include Premier Sponsors--City of Fayetteville, Fayetteville/Cumberland Parks & Recreation, Fayetteville Observer, T. Pinckney & Associates and AmeriCorps VISTA. Jade Quality Care, Inc. is serving as the Lunch Sponsor and Mind OVER Matter Youth Development Institute is the Senior Success Sponsor. In addition, Making A Difference Sponsors include Epsilon Rho Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Fayetteville/Fort Bragg Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc., and Upsilon Kappa Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.
